Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis team fell 9-0 to Sweet Briar on Sunday afternoon.
The Hornets battled tough in doubles action, but the Vixens earned a 3-0 advantage after the opening three matches. Lynchburg's No. 1 and No. 2 pairings, Ashley Hair and Lauren Pascadlo and Jordan Ottaviano and Emma Pinola, both fell 3-8. Elizabeth Horine and Reese McAtee fell 1-8 at No. 3.
In singles action, Pascadlo, who returns to the Hornets after graduating in 2022, played at the No. 1-singles flight, but fell on the top court 1-6, 2-6. Hair played at No. 2, Pinola played at No. 3, McAtee played at No. 4, Ottaviano played at No. 5, and Horine made her singles debut for the Hornets at No. 6.
The Hornets (0-1, 0-1 ODAC) host William Peace on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m. The men's tennis team will also battle the Pacers that day.
