Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis team defeated William Peace 8-1 on Saturday.
The Hornets swept doubles play with Ashley Hair and Emma Pinola winning 8-5 at No. 1, Jordan Ottaviano and Elizabeth Horine winning 8-5 at No. 2, and Reese McAtee and Emily Wrenn winning 8-3 at No. 3.
The Hornets split the top-two courts with Hair grabbing a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the first flight, and Pinola falling at No. 2.
McAtee grinded to a three-set win at No. 3 and won the tiebreaker 11-9, Ottaviano didn't drop a game at No. 4, Wrenn won her singles debut for the Hornets at No. 5, and Horine won 12 of her 13 games at No. 6.
The Hornets (1-1, 0-1 ODAC) host Ferrum on Monday, Feb. 29 at 1:30 p.m.
