Laurinburg, N.C. -- The University of Lynchburg beach volleyball team fell to Stevenson 4-1 but beat Wake Technical 5-0 on Saturday.
Jordan Palmer and Kailey Keough were the only pair to win against Stevenson to start the day in the 4-1 loss, and the No. 1 pair battled their Mustang opponents tough through three sets, After the first set was decided 24-26, Palmer and Keough rallied for 21-12 and 15-8 decisions in the final two sets to claim Lynchburg's only point.
Palmer and Keoigh doubled down with another win against Wake Technical going 21-10, 21-11 against Wake Technical's No. 1s.
Lynchburg's No. 4 and No. 5 pairs, Tori Williamson and Laney Burns (No. 4) and Sydney Phillips and Virginia Zalinski (No. 5) made slight work of their opponents. The two pairs combined to only allow Wake Technical to 34 points across the four sets. Williamson and Burns won 21-5, 21-11 at No. 4, and Zalinski and Phillips won 21-4, 21-14 at No. 5.
SJ Yanz and Amanda Trapp took care of business at No. 2, and Mady Shirey and Parker Lynch won 21-14, 21-18 at No. 3.
Lynchburg (2-1) is scheduled to play five matches against five different opponents, including Wake Technical, beginning Friday, March 1 at Liberty University.
