Hilton Head Island, S.C. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis team fell to St. Mary 7-2 Sunday afternoon.
In doubles play, Sarah Wood collected her first collegiate win, and Lynchburg's sole double's win at No. 3 doubles with Jordan Ottaviano 8-1. Emma Pinola and Ashley Hair fell to Amber Manspeaker and Cleopatra Solomon 1-8 at No. 1 doubles. Reese McAtee and Elizabeth Horine fell at No. 2 doubles 2-8.
Horine was the sole victor for Lynchburg in singles action, taking a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles. Hair fell to Solomon at No. 1 singles 1-6, 4-6. Pinola fell at No. 2 doubles 5-7, 3-6. McAtee fell at No. 3 singles 5-7, 4-6. In a battle at No. 4 singles, Ottaviano fell 3-6, 7,5, 6-11. Lastly, Wood fell at No. 6 singles 4-6, 4-6.Â
Lynchburg (2-3, 1-2 ODAC) will continue competition in Hilton Head Island Monday, March 11 versus Asbury.
