Women's tennis falls to Stevenson

Hilton Head Island, S.C. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis team fell to Stevenson 4-5 Thursday afternoon.

In doubles play, the duo of Jordan Ottaviano and Emma Pinola won the only doubles point for the Hornets, cruising to an 8-3 victory on the second court. Ashley Hair and Reese McAtee teamed up at No. 1, and Sarah Wood and Elizabeth Horine paired up on No. 3. Lynchburg entered singles play trailing 1-2.

In singles action, Hair avenged her doubles' defeat by winning at No. 1, 6-2, 6-2. Pinola earned a point for Lynchburg after rallying to a 6-1, 6-2 victory on the third court, and Ottaviano won 6-3, 6-2 at the fourth flight. McAtee fell to Shelby Carter 3-6, 0-6 at No. 2. Horine fell at No. 5 in straights sets. Wood also fell at No. 6. Unfortunately, Lynchburg could not clinch the match, falling by one point. This marks Lynchburg's fifth straight loss. 


Lynchburg (2-6, 1-2 ODAC) will travel to Greensboro after spring break to face Guilford on Saturday, Mar. 23.
