Women's lacrosse downs Randolph

Box Score

Lynchburg, Va -- The Lynchburg women's lacrosse team defeated Randolph with a 17-4 maintaining its perfect record against the WildCats.

Mckenna Steinau opened the scoring less than a minute into the game to set the tone for the Hornets. Randolph responded later in the first period, but not before Reagan Bradley notched back-to-back goals mere seconds apart. After conceding on a free-position goal, Lynchburg regained momentum and control, closing out the first quarter with a 5-1 advantage.

In the second quarter, Lynchburg continued dominating on offense and defense and constantly pressured Randolph's defense. The Hornets netted five, taking a 10-1 lead into halftime, and prevented the WildCats from a single shot the entire quarter.

Randolph started the second half intent on cutting into the Hornet's lead, getting on the scoresheet early and trading goals with Lynchburg. With the quarter tied at 2-2, Lynchburg eventually pulled away with goals from Lauryn Fling and Emma Timberg to end the third period ahead 14-3.

Despite a late Randolph goal in the final period, two goals from Lynchburg's Mya Hausauer earlier in the quarter secured a dominant victory for the Hornets.

Lynchburg displayed significant squad depth with nine different scorers, six of whom netted two or more goals. Bradley, Sydney Dumas, Gabriella Strano, and Steinau scored two apiece, while Timberg and Hausauer each recorded hat tricks. Freshman Jayme Thomas stood out on the defensive end as she secured five ground balls: the game's highest.

Lynchburg (5-3, 2-0) hosts EMU on Wednesday, March 27 at 7 p.m. Lynchburg will look to extend its perfect record against the Royals.
