Lynchburg Va. -- The University of Lynchburg beach volleyball team beat Richard Bland 3-2 and fell to Stevenson 5-0 on Friday night at home.
In the win over the Statesmen to start the day, SJ Yanz and Amanda Trapp clinched the win on the second court. They won in three sets 21-16, 13-21, 15-10. Mady Shirey and Tori Williamson won at No. 3 21-11, 21-13, and Sydney Phillips and Virginia Zalinski beat their opponents on the fifth court 21-18, 21-13.
The Hornets didn't win any matches against Stevenson, but Jordan Palmer and Kaleigh Keough and Yanz and Trapp played three sets each at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
The Hornets (7-8, 14-10 overall) take on Richard Bland and Liberty at home on Saturday, March 30.
