Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's lacrosse falls on Senior Day

Lynchburg, Va -- The Lynchburg women's lacrosse team 19-4 against Christopher Newport on Saturday.

Before the game, Lynchburg celebrated its six seniors Maddie Mueller, Jayde Mayer, Tori King, Payton Saville, Caelinn Satterfield, Kayla Brady, and graduate-student Corinne West.

CNU started the game with momentum on the attack, dominating draw controls and possession in the first period. The Captains found the net twice to reward a spell of promising play, but Lynchburg found its way back into the game. Tori King scored to cut the lead in half less than a minute later. CNU was quick to respond and regained control throughout the quarter. The Captains went on a 13-goal run stretching well into the second period.

Late in the first half, the Hornets put together a set of well-strung passes to find Reagan Bradley breaking the Captain's streak. CNU headed into halftime with a 15-2 lead.

The third quarter produced a more evenly matched contest as both sides fought to maintain significant possessions. CNU forced six turnovers from Lynchburg while giving up five of its own. Despite the back and forth, the Captains still found the net three times and held the Hornets to a single shot throughout the period.

Lynchburg slowly found pockets of control in the final quarter. Sydney Dumas was on the scoresheet within the first minute before the Captains responded promptly. Reagan Bradley notched her 23rd goal of the season and the day's final goal as the Captains saw out the rest of the game.

Lynchburg suffered its fifth loss of the season (9-5) but avoided any reflection of the loss on its conference record (6-1). The Hornets return to conference action against Shenandoah on Wednesday, April 17 at 5 p.m.
