Women's tennis blanks Hollins on senior day

Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis team earned a 9-0 victory over Hollins Sunday afternoon.

In their final home match of the season, Lynchburg blanked all three opponents in doubles action. Jordan Ottaviano and Emma Pinola, the two seniors celebrated before the match, kicked things off by picking up a win on court two. Ashley Hair and Lauren Pascadlo attacked the net often on court one, leading to their victory. Reese McAtee and Elizabeth Horine completed the doubles sweep on court three.

In singles action, Hair sat out, pushing everyone below her in the lineup up one spot. Ottaviano bageled her opponent at the third flight. The matches on courts one, two, four, and six led to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. McAtee finished first on court four, followed by Pascadlo on the top court. Pinola prevailed in her match on court two. Emily Wrenn played on court six, winning her first match since playing William Peace on Feb. 24. Horine fought to a 7-6 (7-3 in tiebreak) 7-5 victory on court five.

This win is Lynchburg's first since a 7-0 victory against Ferrum on Feb. 26, ending a 13-match skid.

Lynchburg (3-14, 2-7 ODAC) will play their final match of the season against cross-town rivals Randolph on Saturday, Apr. 27.
