Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis team fell to Bridgewater 2-5 Wednesday afternoon.
Lynchburg dropped all three doubles matches. Ashley Hair and Emma Pinola fell to Bridgewater's No. 1 doubles duo of Emma Nesselrodt and Jolexie Whetzel 6-8. Reese McAtee and Jordan Ottaviano fell at No. 2 doubles 3-8. At No. 3 doubles, Sarah Wood and Elizabeth Horine fell 2-8. The Hornets entered singles play trailing 0-3.
At No. 1 singles, Ashley Hair defeated her opponent 7-6 (7-1 tiebreak) 6-2. At No. 3 singles, McAtee defeated Bridgewater's Riley Roeber 7-6 (10-2), 7-6 (10-4) for her second singles victory of the season. Ottaviano fell in a hard fought match at No. 4 singles 4-6, 5-7, and Wood dropped her match at No. 6 singles 2-6, 1-6. Pinola and Horine were written at the No. 2 and No. 5 seeds, respectively, but did not play since Bridgewater clinched.
Lynchburg (2-8, 1-4 ODAC) face a #16 Washington and Lee team at home on Friday, Apr. 5 at 2 p.m.
