Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's volleyball team will have its first official contests of the program's history when it travels up to Cresson, Pa. to take on Mount Aloysius and Wilson on Saturday, January 18.

Ryan Turner are ready to make history in the realm of Lynchburg athletics with their first pair of matches. First up will be Mount Aloysius at 12 p.m. followed by Wilson at 2 p.m.Â
The Mounties are set to begin their fourth season of the program. Last season, MAC finished with a 9-15 overall record. All of the Mounties' top performers from last year return for the 2025 slate. Matthew Franz was atop the team in kills last season with 243 for an average of 3.16 kills per set. Andrew Wlodarczyk was close behind with 225 kills for an average of 2.78 kills per set last year. Jason Freed topped the team in blocks with 53 total, including 23 solo blocks.Â
The Phoenix are about the start their 10th season in the program's history. The Wilson squad finished last season with an 8-15 overall record. Jacob McCoy and Saria Alshaikhali were the top two offensive producers for Wilson last year, totaling 174 and 173 kills, respectively. Vincent Natale sauced up 647 assists last season for an average of 7.35 per game. Demetrius Simmons led the team on defense with 54 total blocks.Â
Following tomorrow's matchups, the Hornets will have their first home match. Lynchburg will welcome Virginia Wesleyan to Turner Gym for an ODAC battle on Tuesday, January 21 at 6 p.m.
