Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Cresson, Pa. -- The Hornet's men's volleyball team started their debut season in dominant fashion, winning their first two matches in three-set sweeps.

Lynchburg began the day by taking on Mount Aloysius. A 7-2 run in the middle of their first set gave the Hornets an advantage that they held onto for a 25-21 win. During the second frame, Lynchburg carried their momentum from the first set and jumped out in front, 14-6. Despite a late rally from the Mounties, the Hornets held on for a 25-21 victory. In the third set, junior outside hitter Mason Kenna put the nail in the coffin with three late kills to help give Lynchburg its first win in program history.

Kenna led the team with nine kills, with Nick Redding close behind him, tallying seven. Redding also collected a team-high five digs. Jeremiah Costello and Heath Atkins collected two aces each. Lynchburg also dominated at the net, winning the block battle, 9-1. Lynchburg's Stefan Kapitanov rejected four attempts at the net in the first match.

Lynchburg retook the hardwood shortly after their first win in program history, hunting for another against Wilson College.

In the first frame of this contest, it was clear the Hornets came out hungry. Lynchburg dominated from the opening whistle, coming out with a 10-2 lead. The Hornets won the first set 25-9. The second set was the tightest of the afternoon for Lynchburg. The Hornets trailed 22-23 before going on a 3-0 run with two kills from Bryce Jackson to claim the second frame. In the third, Lynchburg took care of business again, walking away with a 25-20 win for their second sweep of the day.

Redding led the team with 14 kills, two blocks, and eight digs in this affair. Kenna collected a team-high four aces.

Lynchburg will now return to the Hill City for their home opener in Turner Gymnasium against Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 6 p.m.
