Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg men's volleyball team (2-3) will host Averett (1-5) and Marymount (2-4) this weekend in a round-robin on Saturday, Feb. 1.
The Saturday showcase begins with Lynchburg and Averett at noon. The second game of the day will be between Marymount and Averett at 2 p.m., and the third and final game of the round-robin will be between Marymount and Lynchburg at 4 p.m.Â
The Hornets enter this weekend on a three-game losing skid after winning in their first two games of the season. Nick Redding leads the team through five games with 56.5 points. Bryce Jackson has also been instrumental in the Hornets' front line of defense, collecting 15 blocks this year.Â
The Averett Cougars come to the Hill City with a five-game losing streak, after winning their first game of the season against Warren Wilson. In their last five matches, the Cougars have won just one set. Finn Oakley has been the primary scorer this season for Averett with 2.79 kills/set.Â
The Marymount Saints are coming off a 3-0 loss to Randolph-Macon. However, in the game prior, the Saints picked up a five-set victory over Virginia Wesleyan. The Saints sport two players with over three kills/set with Diego Peña and Jonathan Pickering.Â
Following these matchups, the Hornets will have a six-game road trip, their longest of the season. The Hornets will not play in Turner again until Feb. 20 against Warren Wilson.Â
