Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg Hornets field hockey squad travels to Winchester, Va., for an ODAC showdown against the Shenandoah Hornets on Saturday, Oct. 10.
This matchup will be a rematch of last season's ODAC championship, where Shenandoah claimed the title with a 4-1 victory. The two sides have met in ODAC postseason play for four consecutive seasons.
No. 18 Lynchburg (8-3) enters the contest after a dominant 13-0 win over Sweet Briar in its last outing. This will be the fifth ranked opponent the Hornets have faced this season. In their first four ranked games, Lynchburg posted a 1-3 record, with all three losses decided by a single goal.
Junior forward Anna Dorrestijn leads the ODAC in total points (24), tallying nine goals and six assists. Dorrestijn has scored in three straight games and added four assists over that stretch.
No. 15 Shenandoah (9-2) welcomes Lynchburg riding a four-game win streak. The Hornets picked up their second ODAC victory of the season with a 2-1 win over Bridgewater in their most recent outing. This will be Shenandoah's third ranked matchup of the year, having dropped both previous contests to No. 25 Dickinson and No. 4 Salisbury.
First-year forward Reagan Flory currently leads Lynchburg in goals with nine through 11 contests. She is tied for the team lead in points (22) with senior forward Claudia Lenahan, who has recorded an ODAC-best 10 assists.
Both Hornet squads are among four remaining teams unbeaten in conference play this season.
Following this game, Lynchburg returns home for its annual Code Red contest against Randolph-Macon on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
