Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The Lynchburg volleyball team The Lynchburg volleyball team completed a Saturday sweep on the road, earning back-to-back 3-0 victories over Stevenson (25-10, 25-15, 25-21) and Rutgers–Camden (25-21 ,27-25, 25-20).
The Hornets (22-2, 8-1 ODAC) have tied for the fifth most wins in a season in program history with four regualr season games remaing and postseason play on deck. Lynchburg has claimed a dozen sweeps this season and have tabbed five in their last six games.
In the first match of the day, the Hornets (xx-x, 8-1 ODAC) were dominant offensively, hitting .324 as a team while holding the Mustangs (13-10, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth) to just .051.
Kate Hardie led the offense with 13 kills, followed by Ava Meinhardt with 12 and Kailey Keough with 10. The Hornets' efficiency in transition was key, as setter Alexis Scipione handed out 23 assists, while Mya Green added 15.
Defensively, Lynchburg controlled the back row, with Cassi Blackmore recording 11 digs and Keough adding 10. At the net, Meinhardt and Keough each tallied a pair of blocks to slow Stevenson's attack.
Lynchburg established the tone early, using a 9-2 run in the opening set that expanded into an 18-5 advantage to take control. The second set remained tight through the early stages, but an 8-2 surge midway through kept momentum on Lynchburg's side. The Mustangs pushed the third set to a 21-21 tie, but the Hornets responded with four straight points to close out the sweep — marking their 11th straight-set victory of the season.
In the second match, Lynchburg earned another straight-set win, defeating Rutgers–Camden 3-0. Hardie once again paced the Hornets with 8 kills, while Keough and Meinhardt followed closely with 7 and 6 respectively. Green and Scipione shared setting duties again, combining for 27 assists.
At the net, Meinhardt led with 2.5 blocks, while Jacqueline Bryant and Bree Spainhour added key touches to slow the Scarlet Raptors' attack. Tori Williamson led the defensive effort in the back row with 9 digs, followed by Blackmore with 8.
The Hornets held Rutgers–Camden to .047 hitting while posting 37 kills of their own and edging the Scarlet Raptors in both blocking and serving.
Lynchburg returns home to continue ODAC play next week, hosting Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
