LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg softball team and head coach Dawn Simmons have unveiled the slate of contests for the 2026 season, the program announced Tuesday morning.

The Hornets open the season on Moon Field with a home matchup against Methodist on Feb. 21. Lynchburg stays in the Hill City to host Muskingum on Feb. 27 before traveling Feb. 28 for a doubleheader at Mary Washington in Fredericksburg.

Tournament play begins in March as the Hornets head to Raleigh, North Carolina, for the Triangle Classic Tournament on March 7–8. Lynchburg continues tournament competition the following week at the Margie Knight Softball Classic, set for March 13–15 in Salisbury, Maryland.

The Hornets return home Wednesday, March 18, to host Mary Baldwin, then remain in Lynchburg for their ODAC opener against Roanoke on Saturday, March 21. Lynchburg travels March 28 to Eastern Mennonite before returning home March 29 for a contest with Randolph.

April begins with a road trip to Christopher Newport on Saturday, April 4, followed by three straight home dates: Sweet Briar on April 7, Shenandoah on April 11, and Bridgewater on April 12.

Lynchburg travels Wednesday, April 15, to Randolph-Macon, then returns home April 18 to host Guilford. The Hornets close the regular season with a home matchup against Averett on Tuesday, April 21, and a road trip to Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, April 25, in Virginia Beach.

The Hornets look to build on last year's success after posting 26 wins in 2025. Lynchburg also ushers in a new era this spring with 10 newcomers joining the roster, including nine freshmen and one transfer.
