Lynchburg Claims Two More Wins

Jefferson City, Tenn. --The Lynchburg Hornets took on the Florida State College at Jacksonville Manta Rays in the first game of two. Lynchburg won the match five sets to zero, their second sweep this weekend.

There were three sweeps by the Hornet duos Amanda Trapp/SJ Yanz, Mady Shirey/Kailey Keough, and Sydney Phillips/Jordan Palmer.

Court one had the duo of Amanda Trapp and SJ Yanz against the Ray's duo of Hana Roberts and Carly Rivera. Yanz and Trapp took the first two sets for the sweep.

Court two held a matchup between Kailey Keough and Mady Shirey of the Hornets, and Malayna Coadhoultz and Abby Bucci of the Rays. Keough and Shirey took that match in two games for another Lynchburg sweep.

Jordan Palmer and Sydney Phillips faced off against Haley Tharp and Kennedy Walker on court three. This game was finished in two sets by the Hornets for their third sweep of the game.

Match four was between the Lynchburg Laney Burns and Parker Lynch, facing off against Quinn Kralsics and Maison Turner of Florida State College at Jacksonville. This matchup went the distance with Burns and Lynch taking the win.

The last matchup of the game was between the Hornets Virginia Zalinski and Mackenzie Ingrassia, and the Rays Lexi Pacheco and Ella Vonasova. This matchup also went 3 sets with Lynchburg winning to secure the sweep.

The Hornets also had a matchup against Southern Virginia for the second time on the weekend.

The Hornets came out on top winning four sets out of five over the Knights. All four of Lynchburg's wins were won comfortably with four sweeps over their opponents.

The first matchup was between Amanda Trapp and SJ Yanz, and Claire Grasteit and Kami Milius. This game went the distance of three sets with the Knights duo coming out on top.

Kailey Keough and Mady Shirey took on Charity Elam and Brynn Keeling in the second game between the two teams. Keough and Shirey won the first two sets comfortably for the sweep.

The Hornet duo of Sydney Phillips and Jordan Palmer took on the Knights duo of Callie Tuckfield and Baylee Savage in the third bout of the game. Phillips and Jordan won their first two sets to complete the second sweep of the matchup.

Parker Lynch and Laney Burns took on Mikki Prows and Gabi Green in the fourth match between the Hornets and Knights. This ended in a sweep for Burns and Lynch for their third sweep.

The last game was held by Emily Peterson and London Skea of Lynchburg, and Virginia Zalinski and Mackenzi Ingrassia of Southern Virginia. Peterson and Skea won in two sets to complete the sweep.

The Hornets play on the 21st and 22nd of February in Laurinburg, N.C. for their next matchups. They have three games against St. Mary's (3-2), Stevenson(0-0), and Tusculum(0-0).
