Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg softball squad begins their 2025 campaign at home with a doubleheader against the William Peace Pacers on Sunday, Feb. 16, starting at noon.
Since 2016, the Hornets have controlled the series between the two programs, 9-3. Most recently, Lynchburg took down the Pacers 10-3 and 12-1 in their doubleheader to begin the season in 2023.Â
William Peace finished last season 22-22 (8-10), tying for fifth in the USA South. This season, the Pacers were picked eighth in their conference preseason poll. William Peace returns key All-Confrence selections with third baseman Adanya Day and pitcher Reagan Stewart.Â
The Hornets enter this season after a 29-13 overall record and a 15-7 record in conference play in 2024. This season, Lynchburg checked in a fourth in the ODAC preseason poll, just one point behind third-place Roanoke. The Hornets return nearly all of their production from last season along with a handful of new faces that should make an immediate impact.Â
All five All-ODAC selections from a year ago are back this season for the Hornets. Highlighted by Sarah Watts and Kailey Dorcsis who earned All-State recognition, along with Golden Glove right fielder Lexi Powell.Â
This will be the first of three consecutive home double-headers for the Hornets as they commence their 2025 season. On deck, Mary Washington comes to the Hill City on Thursday, Feb. 27.Â
