Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg men's volleyball team (7-7) welcomes Randolph (6-9) for a Code Red contest this Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m.
The Wildcats enter this affair on a two game losing skid. In their most recent match, Randolph fell to Messiah in a 3-0 sweep. Strong defensive play has been the backbone of the Wildcats team this seasons, averaging the second most digs/set (10.29) in the ODAC this season. Offensivley, three players currently averaging over 2.5 points/set with OH Mat Beentjes leading the charge with 2.86.
The tandem of freshman, right side hitter, Shamel Smith and outside hitter Elijah Woods, have been invaluable additions for the wildcats this season. The two high-flying first years are extremely explosive hitters for Randolph.Â
The Hornets have started to find their rhythm as of late, winning their last three contests. This win streak has been the longest of the Hornets season thus far. Freshman
Nick Redding is fresh off a ODAC Defensive Player of the Week award, tallying 19 digs and five blocks over the past three games.Â
Following this affair, Lynchburg will have a seven day hiatus before their next match in Danville, Va. against Averett on Wednesday, March 5.Â
