Hornets Earn Road Victory Over Quakers

Greensboro, N.C. -- The University of Lynchburg women's lacrosse team secured a commanding 20-1 victory against Guilford on Tuesday afternoon on Appenzeller Field at the Armfield Athletic Center.

The Hornets (2-1) scored 11 goals without allowing any in the first 15 minutes of action. Lynchburg came out strong from the opening whistle as Mya Hausauer got things started with a goal at the 14:08-mark, followed by a pair of quick scores from Sydney Dumas to push the Hornets' lead to 3-0.

Lynchburg's attack was relentless throughout the game, with Dumas completing her hat trick early in the second quarter, and McKenna Steinau, Neely Morris, and Elizabeth Poitras also adding goals to widen the gap. The Hornets scored 15 goals before the halftime intermission. By the end of the third quarter, the score had ballooned to 19-0, thanks to three goals from Poitras and one from Margaret Scoggin.

Guilford found the back of the net with 2:36 remaining in the fourth quarter, as Riley Gravley tallied the Quakers' lone goal. Steinau added one goal in the final quarter to cap off Lynchburg's assertive performance.

The Hornets' defense was stellar, and their offensive execution was sharp, with 10 different players getting involved in the scoring. The win improves Lynchburg's record to two consecutive victories.

With a team-leading four goals in today's affair, Dumas notched triple-digit goals in her collegiate career. She now has seven goals in three outings this season. Poitras racked up her first career hat trick as well. Bella Vogel netted her first goal of her collegiate career while Carmen Nicolas tallied her first collegiate caused turnover and ground ball.

Next up, Lynchburg returns to Shellenberger Field to take on ODAC foe Washington and Lee on Tuesday, March 4 at 4 p.m.
