Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg women's lacrosse team suffered their second season defeat, losing to Washington & Lee, 7-23.
Sydney Dumas tallied her third consecutive hat trick for the Hornets, finishing with a team-high three goals.Â

Margaret Scoggin each contributed two goals as well.Â
The Hornets started the contest with a goal from the junior attackman Steinau. However, the Generals quickly responded with a 3-0 run to take the lead. From that point on, the Washington & Lee offense continued to roar.Â
The Generals continuously pelted Lynchburg with shots in the opening quarter, tallying eight goals on 14 shots in the first frame. The second quarter provided more of the same, as the Generals rattled off seven more goals to take a 15-5 advantage into the intermission.Â
After scoring five unanswered goals to end the second quarter, the Generals kept the momentum in their direction, outscoring Lynchburg 4-0 in the third quarter. In the final frame, Steinau collected the sole Lynchburg goal of the second half. However, Washington & Lee added four more goals to their total, leaving with a 23-7 victory.Â
Carson Quigley finished the contest with 11 saves in her first appearance between the pipes for Lynchbrug.Â
The Hornets (2-2)Â will continue conference play at home this weekend, playing host to Virginia Wesleyan (2-2) on Friday, March 7, at 7 p.m.Â
