Lynchburg, Va. -- The Hornets (4-4) head to Harrisonburg for two matches this Saturday, Feb. 8, against Eastern Mennonite (3-4) and Regent (3-0).
The EMU Royals come into this affair off back-to-back wins against ODAC opponents. EMU has started their conference play perfectly, sweeping both Averett and Randolph. Eastern Mennonite went into the season tied for third in the conference preseason poll. Their three losses this season have all come against nationally ranked top-25 teams. Sophomore Andre Mills is currently averaging 2.95 kills/set and is one of three Royals with two or more kills per set.
The Regent Royals have begun their season unblemished through three matches. Regent has swept Warren Wilson, Averett, and Carolina University. The Royals have allowed their opponents to reach the 20-point mark in just two sets this season. Outside hitter Aaron Campbell has led the charge through their first three contests, averaging over 4 kills/set.
Lynchburg enters this Saturday's showcase with two wins in their last three matches. The Hornets are coming off their most dominant win of the season over Warren Wilson on the road.
Nick Redding and
Jeremiah Costello have been instrumental to the Hornet offense early in the season. Meanwhile, middle hitter Jackson Bryce leads the team in blocks and attacking percentage.
This weekend will offer the third conference game of the season for the Hornets, currently sitting at 1-1 in ODAC play. Lynchburg will travel to Randolph-Macon to face the Yellow Jackets next week, Tuesday, Feb. 11, to continue their road stint.
