Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynhcburg Hornets (4-0) welcome Greensboro (4-4) for a doubleheader this Sunday, March 2, starting at noon.
Greensboro is coming off a 2024 campaign that included 28 wins and a USA South Conference championship appearance. The Pride checked in at sixth in the USA South Preseason Poll. This years group brings in four freshman and one transfer after losing six key players from 2024 due to graduation.
The Pride arrive to the Hill City on Saturday to take on Randolph across town before taking on the Hornets. Greensboro has already played their fair share of ODAC opponents this season, taking down Roanoke 13-4 and splitting a doubleheader with Averett last week.Â
The Hornets have been perfect at home this season. Through their first four games, three games have ben decided in run-rule fashion, outscoring their opponents 28-0.
Sarah Watts the Hornets in nearly every statistical batting category so far this year, earning a batting average of .545 with six hits, four of which have gone for extra bases. As a group, the Hornets sport nine players that hold a batting average of .333 or better (minimum five at bats).Â
The Lynchburg pitching rotation has been excellent, holding their opposition to an average of .135 and a perfect ERA of 0.00. Senior
Kailey Dorcsis leads the squad with 10 of the team's 20 strikeouts.Â
