Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg softball squad is back on the road this Saturday, March 15, for a double header against the Methodist Monarchs.
In recent history, the Hornets have controlled the series between the two. Lynchburg has won eight of the last 10 matchups, including two wins in previous years' doubleheader on Moon Field.
The Monarchs (6-12) enter this matchup after splitting their most recent double-header against Mary Washington. Methodist has been a strong team hitting-wise this season, totaling an average of .321. The Monarch's leading batters Alyssa Riva and Rachel Blanchard both sport an average of .400 or better.
However, their opponents have hit .342 this season. Kiersten Margoupis has been the primary arm in the circle for the Monarchs this season. In over 65 innings worth of work, Margoupis has recorded an ERA of 4.71.
Lynchburg (8-2) enters this affair after picking up three wins in their four games at the William Peace Triangle Classic last weekend. While in Raleigh, N.C. senior pitcher

As a group, Lynchburg has hit the ball exceptionally well through their first 10 contests, earning a batting average of .331.
Sarah Watts and
Lexi Powell have been excellent for the Hornets in the batter's box, both batting .424 or better. Watts has notched nine extra-base hits as well, with four doubles, two triples, and three home runs.
Following this affair, the Hornets will return home for two ranked doubleheaders next week. Lynchburg will host no, 13 Salisbury on Wednesday, March 19, followed by No. 6 Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, March 22.
