Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg men's volleyball team is gearing up for another conference contest against the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins on the road Wednesday, March 19.
The two sides squared off earlier this season in the Hornets first ODAC game of the year. In their contest in Turner Gymnasium, the Marlins bested Lynchburg in a three set sweep.
Virginia Wesleyan (13-5) enters this affair with wins in their last four contests, losing just one frame in the process. The Marlins sport one of the best defensives in the conference, limiting their opponents to an attacking percentage of .108 and 8.48 kills/set. On the offensive end, Virginia Wesleyan leads the ODAC in kills/set with 11.94.
Outside hitter JaMarhe Wills has had an exceptionally strong sophomore campaign as one of the conference leaders in both kills and points. Last time against Lynchburg, Wills tabbed 11 kills and one block.
The Hornets (9-11) have dropped their last three conference game and come into this contest with a two game losing skid. With four games remaining, and three in conference play, the Hornets are at the on the outside looking in for postseason but still in the mix.
Right side hitter
Nick Redding and Middle Hitter
Bryce Jackson continue to be two of the most dominant forces in the ODAC, each landing in the top three of two separate statistical categories: Jackson for blocks and hitting percentage and Redding for kills and points.
Following this match, Lynchburg remains on the road for a contest against Roanoke (18-8) on Wednesday, April 2.
