Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg beach volleyball team competed in four matchups this weekend at Liberty University.
The Hornets (4-2) kicked off the weekend with a dominant 5-0 sweep over Lancaster Bible (0-4). The duos of SJ Yanz and Amanda Trapp, Kailey Keough and Mady Shirey, Jordan Palmer and Sydney Phillips, and Lydia Nelson and Jamie Smith all secured straight-set victories. Laney Burns and Parker Lynch also claimed a win, defeating their opponents in three sets.
In their second match on Friday, the Hornets faced Liberty's club team (7-0) and fell 1-4. Lynchburg's lone win came from Kailey Keough and Mady Shirey, who battled to a three-set victory.
Saturday's competition began with a rematch against Carson-Newman (7-4), marking the second time this season the Eagles bested the Hornets. Carson-Newman claimed four of the five matchups, with Parker Lynch and Laney Burns securing Lynchburg's only win in a three-set battle.
In their final match of the weekend, the Hornets edged out Southern Virginia (1-3), winning three of five matchups.
Lynchburg will return to action on March 11, taking on Tennessee at Chattanooga and Tusculum in Tusculum, Tenn.
