Wingate, N.C. -- The Lynchburg Hornets faced off against the Salem Spirits, the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, and the Wingate Bulldogs over the weekend.
Their first matchup took place on Friday against the Salem Spirits, where the Hornets secured a strong victory, winning four of five sets. The duos of SJ Yanz/Amanda Trapp, Jordan Palmer/Sydney Phillips, Kailey Keough/Mady Shirey, and Virginia Zalinski/Jamie Smith all claimed their matches in straight sets.
Lynchburg carried that momentum into Saturday with a hard-fought 3-2 win over the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. Victories from Amanda Trapp/SJ Yanz, Parker Lynch/Virginia Zalinski, and Lydia Nelson/Jamie Smith—each prevailing in three sets—propelled the Hornets to another triumph.
The weekend concluded with a tough battle against the host team, Wingate. Despite a strong effort, the Hornets fell 3-2 to the Bulldogs. The pairings of Kailey Keough/Mady Shirey and Lydia Nelson/Jamie Smith secured wins for Lynchburg.
Looking ahead, the Hornets aim to bounce back with a home weekend against Southern Virginia, Stevenson, and Liberty.
