Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg women's lacrosse team travels to Buena Vista, Va., on Thursday, March 27, to conclude their non-conference schedule with a matchup against Southern Virginia.
The Hornets have claimed a victory in their last three meetings against the Knights, including a 20-5 win last season at home.
Southern Virginia (5-5) comes into this contest after back-to-back wins over Greensboro and William Peace, outscoring them 38-3 in the process. The Knights are 3-1 this season against ODAC opponents, taking down Sweet Briar, EMU, and Randolph while losing to Bridgewater.
The Knights have three players with 24 or more goals this year. Makenzie Mickelsen, Kenzie Poulsen, and Ellie Patterson have accounted for over 66% of Southern Virginia's goals.
Lynchburg enters this affair after having their four-game win streak snapped last game against Randolph-Macon.
McKenna Steinau and
Sydney Dumas have been a lethal pair this season, each collecting 24 goals through the first nine games.
Neely Morris has also been an invaluable asset for the Hornets this year, dishing out a team-high 10 assists and claiming 35 draw controls.
The Hornet defense could be a difference-maker in this game. Lynchburg has held their opponents to seven goals per game, while the Knights have allowed 11.1.
Following this matchup, the Hornets return home for their senior day game against the Randolph Wildcats on Saturday, March 29.
