Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg beach volleyball notched two victories against Richard Bland and Stevenson to kick off their home weekend in the Hill City.
Their first match for the Hornets was against the Richard Bland Eagles. They had a clean sweep and won all four sets.
The duos of Amanda Trapp/SJ Yanz, Kailey Keough/Mady Shirey, Jordan Palmer/Sydney Phillips, and Parker Lynch/Virginia Zalinski took their games in two straight sets. The fifth match was won by the Hornets via a Richard Bland forfeit.
After a brief hiatus, Lynchburg retook the sand to face off against the Stevenson Mustangs.
The Hornets found themselves in a tightly contested battle, having three of the five matches go to a third set.
Amanda Trapp/SJ Yanz and Lydia Nelson/Jamie Smith won their game in two straight sets. Kailey Keough/Mady Shirey and Jordan Palmer/Sydney Phillips finished off their opponents in three.
Tomorrow, the Hornets will conclude their home stand against the Liberty Flames and the Southern Virginia Knights. The first match will start at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 28.
The second contest against SVU will be a celebration of the seniors: Sydney Phillips and Jordan Palmer, starting at 6 p.m.
