Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over the Ferrum Panthers Sunday afternoon.
The Hornets claimed the doubles point after winning on the top two courts. At the top flight, freshman Kayla Kosiorek and graduate student Maria Caro cruised to a 6-1 victory. Freshman Harper Dodd and junior Ashley Hair followed with a 6-2 victory on court two. Junior Reese McAtee and senior Elora Grochowski were slotted at the third seed, but did not play due to a forfeit from the Panthers.
In singles action, Caro bageled her opponent in both sets to cruise to a win at the top seed. Kosiorek won on court two 6-1, 6-0. Freshman Kamerin East, took the Hornets' sole loss of the afternoon at the four seed 2-6, 1-6. Hair ended the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-0 victory on court three. Dodd and McAtee were slotted to play at the fifth and sixth flights, respectively, but the match was forfeited by the Panthers. With this win, the Hornets improve to 7-5 on the season, and to 4-4 in conference play.
After facing three ODAC foes in the span of 48 hours, the Hornets are rewarded with a much deserved rest before facing Roanoke on the road on Wednesday, Apr. 16 at 3 p.m.
