Lynchburg, Va. – The Lynchburg women's lacrosse team wraps up its regular season with a road match against Eastern Mennonite.
Lynchburg (11-5, 5-4Â ODAC)Â enters this matchup on a two-game losing streak, most recently falling to No. 17 Roanoke, 20-10. With postseason play beginning this weekend, the Hornets currently sit in fifth place in the conference standings. They are two games behind Shenandoah, who holds fourth place, and are tied with Bridgewater, although Lynchburg holds the tiebreaker over the Eagles.
Eastern Mennonite boasts the best save percentage in the ODAC this season, with Rachael Robinson and Maisen Jenkins splitting time in goal. Together, they have combined for a save percentage of .485.
Offensively, Paige Mayers has been one of the most explosive players in the conference. Mayers has accumulated 55 goals and 24 assists—leading the ODAC in both goals and points, while ranking fourth in assists. Senior midfeilder Jenna Entsminger also ranks in the top five in the conference for goals, with 48.
This matchup will feature five of the 13 players in the ODAC who have reached 50 or more points this season. For the Hornets, Nelly Morris and Sydney Dumas lead the team with 55 points each, while McKenna Steinau is close behind with 50.
Lynchburg's defense has been anchored by key contributor, Meredith Bornholdt, averaging 2.8 ground balls per game and 1.6 caused turnovers per game.
Following this game, Lynchburg will prepare for a first-round matchup in the ODAC tournament on Saturday, April 26.
