Lynchburg, Va. – The Lynchburg women's lacrosse team is advancing to the ODAC Semifinals after a dominant 20-1 win over Ferrum.
The Hornets showcased a well-rounded offensive performance with 10 different players scoring. Mya Hausauer led the way with four goals on five shots. Sydney Dumas, Jenna Norko, and McKenna Steinau each added hat tricks with three goals apiece.
Lynchburg wasted no time getting on the board, scoring four goals in the first two and a half minutes of play, including two from Dumas. Ferrum responded with a goal midway through the first quarter, but it would be their only score of the game. The Hornets closed out the opening period with five unanswered goals, giving them a 9-1 lead after one.
The offensive momentum carried into the second quarter. Lynchburg added five more goals before halftime, extending the lead to 14-1. Hausauer scored three straight goals during that stretch, notching her hat trick in less than five minutes.
Coming out of halftime, the Hornets continued to control possession and limit Ferrum's opportunities. Lynchburg scored five goals in the third quarter and tacked on one more in the fourth to close out the game.
With the win, the Hornets advance to the ODAC Semifinals, where they will face No. 4 seed Randolph-Macon in Ashland. The two teams met earlier this season in a tightly contested game that ended in a 13-12 victory for Randolph-Macon.
