Haverford, Pa. – The Lynchburg women's volleyball team extended its hot start to the 2025 season with a 3-1 victory over Scranton on Friday night, marking the Hornets' sixth straight win.
Outside hitters Tori Williamson and Kate Hardie paced the offense with 13 kills apiece, while Leah DiNardo added 11 kills on a highly efficient .500 hitting percentage. Kailey Keough delivered a strong all-around performance, tallying nine kills and a team-high 14 digs.
In the middle, junior Ava Meinhardt anchored the defense with a season-best seven total blocks, just one shy of her career high, consistently disrupting the Scranton attack.
Scranton controlled the opening set, capitalizing on Lynchburg's 10 errors to take the frame 25-21 despite the Hornets' 14 kills.
Lynchburg turned the tide in the second set, racing out to an 8-0 run. Scranton mounted a late rally, but back-to-back kills from DiNardo sealed the 25-23 win.
The Hornets dominated the third, putting together one of their most efficient offensive sets of the young season. Lynchburg hit .520 as a team with 15 kills against just two errors on 25 attempts, cruising to a 25-12 result.
They carried that momentum into the fourth, closing out the match with a 25-18 victory.
With the win, Lynchburg improves to 6-0, matching its best start since 2016. The Hornets will look to surpass that mark on Saturday, Sept. 6, with their match against Haverford at 11 a.m. following by Springfield at 1 p.m. before returning home.
