3 Hornets Claim ODAC Athlete of the Week Honors at Burg Open

Forest, Va. – After registering nationally ranked marks at The Burg Open, Alex Jordan, Kenzie Swicegood and Lamont Victoria received Athlete of the Week honors from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference as the indoor track & field season resumed on Friday.

The Lynchburg trio elevates the ODAC Athlete of the Week season total to five, as Kenzie Swicegood and Micah Leech received the distinction in December. Swicegood is the conference's only athlete to repeat as a week one and week two honoree.

Alex Jordan's 8:24.78 performance in the men's 3,000m bested the field and solidified a six-second personal best. Jordan occupies 10th place on the Division III indoor national qualifying list.

Friday's race marked Jordan's first since competing at the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships in Spartanburg, S.C., where he placed 112th. Last year, the sophomore finished third in the men's 5,000m (15:01.45) and eighth in the men's 3,000m (8:45.92) at the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Kenzie Swicegood posted a 53' 4½" (16.27m) performance in the women's weight throw to capture first in the competition, along with a 37' 1" (11.30m) women's shot put mark for fourth.

With back-to-back first-place finishes in the weight throw, Swicegood moved into fourth among all DIII competitors to begin the season. After earning a personal best of 55' 1" (16.79m) in December, Swicegood is within two feet of Logan Babbs' program record at 56' 11" (17.35m).

Lamont Victoria began his Lynchburg career with a first-place finish in the men's high jump, leaping over the 6' 9" (2.06m) bar to secure the third-highest mark in program history. Victoria also competed with the men's 4x400m team, which placed second with a 3:30.29 performance.

Victoria transferred to Lynchburg in the offseason after spending time at N.C. Central and Campbell to begin his collegiate career. His personal best of 7' 1" (2.16m) would comfortably surpass the Lynchburg indoor program record of 6' 10¾" (2.10m) set by David Lichtenstein in 1998.

The Hornets return to action on Friday, Jan. 17 and Saturday, Jan. 18 in a split-squad weekend at the Virginia Tech Invitational and Finn Pincus Invitational.
