Hornets Face Top Competition at Raleigh Relays, Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational

Lynchburg, Va. – The University of Lynchburg outdoor track & field teams accumulated eight individual podium finishes at the Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational over the weekend, while several Hornets also registered top marks in Division III at the Raleigh Relays.

Entering the second weekend of the regular season, the team maneuvered through heavy rain on Friday night and wind gusts on Saturday morning to post several marks among the program's top 10 lists. The Jack M. Toms Invitational marked the first of four home competitions for the Hornets' outdoor campaign.

Raleigh Relays

On Thursday, Chasen Hunt clocked 3:47.40 in the men's 1,500 to open his outdoor campaign with the third-fastest time in Division III. The senior registered consistent splits throughout the race, which marked his first outdoor appearance since securing the 2025 NCAA title in the men's 5,000-meter run.

Later in the evening, Alex Jordan surged to a 29:50.18 performance in the men's 10,000-meter to shave off almost two minutes from his previous personal best. The sophomore now sits ninth in DIII on the 10,000m qualifying list with the second-fastest time in program history.

On Friday morning, Jamarcus Brown cleared 6' 11" (2.11m) to earn the top mark in the nation and greatly increase his chance of qualifying for the NCAA Championships. The sophomore finished fourth in the field against a strong Division I field.

Lamont Victoria registered a 6' 9" (2.06m) performance to finish eighth and tie for third place on the national qualifying list.

In the men's 1,500 invite, Randy White claimed 3:58.89 for third place, while Danny Rockey trailed shortly behind with a 3:58.90 mark for fourth.

Seven Hornets raced to personal-best performances in the men's 800-meter run, with three athletes claiming positions inside the top 10. Chasen Hunt secured third with 1:53.80, Danny Rockey earned seventh (1:55.02), and Jake Sisk crossed the line in ninth (1:55.27).

In the women's 400-meter run, Kaitlyn Ruiz posted the second-fastest time in program history with a 57.39 showing. The senior only trails Christina Washington's 2010 mark of 56.27 for the fastest result in a Lynchburg uniform.

Rylee Turner notched a pair of top-10 results, racing to a 25.59 fourth-place mark in the women's 200-meter run and a 12.56 eighth-place result in the women's 100-meter dash.

Micah Leech placed fifth in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a 15.24 result, while Aidan Riggle earned a fourth-place 14:54.28 personal best in the men's 5,000-meter run invite.
