Forest, Va. -- University of Lynchburg track and field performers
Chasen Hunt and
Jamarcus Brown were named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Hunt participated in both the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State, and Lynchburg's own
Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Inivitational this past week. In Raleigh, Hunt clocked a 3:47.40 time in the men's 1,500-meter to begin his outdoor senior season. That time marked the third-fastest across DIII this season. Later in the week, he returned home to compete in the 800-meter race at the
Dr. Jack M. Toms Invitational, where he placed third of the field with a time of 1:53.80.
Brown also traveled south to NC State to compete in the high jump. Of a competitive field that included mostly division I competitions, Brown leaped to an impressive 2.11-meter mark to tie for second overall. That performance sits as the top mark in DIII this season and his personal-best effort.
The track and field team splits to multiple locations this week. A handful of athletes will travel to High Point for the VertKlasse Meeting. Hunt will go across the country to run in the Stanford Invitational, while others will take a trip to Williamsburg, Va. for the Colonial Relays.
