Forest, Va. – Junior Micah Leech claimed Old Dominion Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors with two top-five marks at the Finn Pincus Invitational in the men's long jump and triple jump.
With five scheduled regular-season meets until the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, Leech occupies 11th on the Division III indoor qualifying lists for the men's long jump. The Yorktown, Va. native registered a 23' 6¼" (7.17m) jump for first place in the competition, followed up with a fourth-place mark of 46' ½" (14.03m) in the men's triple jump.
Prior to Saturday, Leech had never posted a 23' mark in the long jump.
Leech has claimed five personal bests to begin the indoor season. In addition to the long jump, he holds fourth place in the nation for the men's heptathlon with a 4975 point total from the Liberty Kickoff.Â
Heading into a new weekend of competition at the Liberty Open, Leech is entered to compete in the men's 60-meter hurdles and the men's high jump.
