Lynchburg, Va. – The University of Lynchburg outdoor track & field teams battled difficult conditions against local Division I opponents and continued their postseason push at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier, hosted by Liberty University.
Men's Results
Lamont Victoria headlined the men's team's performances with an all-conditions program record in the men's 200-meter dash, clocking 21.11 to secure third in the field. Despite a strong tailwind at +2.8 m/s on the home straightaway, Victoria elevated to a national-qualifying position at 17th in Division III.
Good fortunes continued for Lynchburg's sprinters as Isaiah Davis clocked a personal-best 11.13 in the men's 100-meter dash for 16th. Antaveon Steele snuck inside the top 10 of the men's 110-meter hurdles with a 14.87 performance.
On the distance side, Corbin Green capped his Lynchburg career with a 15:37.44 result in the men's 5,000-meter run to finish second, while Alex Paciello crossed the line in 15:49.98 for third. Draven Fernandez also cruised into the top 10 with a 15:57.86 effort.
Joey John missed an 800-meter personal best by hundredths of a second, finishing in 1:57.37 for 11th place. Former Liberty student-athlete Jake Sisk registered 1:58.14 to finish 12th.
In field events, decathlete Micah Leech solely focused on the men's pole vault, reaching a personal-best 15' 1" (4.60m) height to finish second. Old Dominion Athletic Conference champion Bronson Andrasz placed fourth with a 14' 7" (4.45m) performance.
Demetri Hinton leaped to sixth place in the men's triple jump, setting a 46' 5¾" (14.17m) mark for sixth. In the men's long jump, Ty Mauer finished seventh with a 22' 6¼" (6.87m) endeavor.
Women's Results
The Hornets produced stellar results in both of Wednesday evening's relay races, posting 47.79 for fourth in the women's 4x100-meter relay and 3:51.74 in the 4x400-meter relay. Lynchburg secured podium finishes in both events at the ODAC Championships.
Kacey Kelly placed fifth in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a 1:07.45 display. In the women's 5,000m, Mya Baker raced to a 19:11.39 result for fourth, while Alana Palmaioli clocked 19:21.34 for fifth in her collegiate 5k debut.
Selah Parker set a personal-best 17' 11" (5.46m) mark in the women's long jump for ninth.
The Hornets return to action on Saturday, May 9 as they compete at the Lee University Last Chance Meet in Cleveland, Tenn.
