Jordan Glides to Men's Indoor 5,000m School Record at Brant Tolsma Invitational

Lynchburg, Va. – Sophomore Alex Jordan posted a historic 14:19.15 men's 5,000m performance to topple Ricky Flynn's program record by nine seconds on Friday evening, as the Lynchburg indoor track & field teams opened action from the Brant Tolsma Invitational at Liberty University and the Roanoke Bast-Cregger Invitational hosted by Roanoke College.

Following a consistently paced race, Jordan's 25th and final lap became his quickest by over two seconds. His personal best of 14:38.07 improved by 19 seconds, and Jordan owns the seventh-fastest time in Division III for the 2025-2026 indoor season.

Lamont Victoria also registered a successful day from Liberty, clocking a 6.78 60m performance for second in the field against Division I opponents. Victoria also cleared 6' 9" (2.08m) in the men's high jump to finish second.

Following Friday's race, Victoria trails Tristan Wright's 6.74 program record by four hundredths of a second. The senior transfer now occupies the second-fastest in school history after tying David Lichtenstein's men's high jump record earlier in the season.

Chasen Hunt completed Lynchburg's efforts at the Brant Tolsma Invitational with an 8:15.02 mark in the men's 3,000m for 16th place. Following the race, Hunt now occupies 12th in DIII qualifying for the 3K.

At Roanoke College, Antaveon Steele placed second in the men's 60-meter hurdle prelims with an 8.37 personal-best performance to qualify for finals.

Rylee Turner also booked her spot in a finals event, advancing through two rounds of the women's 60-meter dash with marks of 7.95 and 7.99. Brianna Taylor also registered a top-10 time, accelerating to an 8.08 mark for eighth in the field.

Michael Coley posted a personal best in the men's 60m semifinals, clocking 7.13 for 14th overall.

In the men's pole vault, Micah Leech earned sixth place at a 13' 3½" (4.05m) mark. Chris Watkins elevated over 12' 9½" (3.90m) for ninth.

The Hornets will complete the remainder of their busy weekend slate on Saturday, Jan. 31 with day two of the Roanoke Bast-Cregger Invitational, while several distance athletes participate in the Steemer Showcase in Springfield, Ohio.
