3 Hornets Secure All-American Finishes on Day 2 of NCAA Championships

La Crosse, Wis. – Jamarcus Brown and Lamont Victoria combined to post a pair of first-team All-American finishes in the men's high jump at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday, while Micah Leech concluded the men's decathlon with a fifth-place performance and 6,874-point personal best.

Lynchburg ended day two with 15.5 points in the men's team standings, and each of Lynchburg's first four athletes contributed to the tally. The Hornets occupy fifth place heading into the final day, trailing Rowan by 5.5 points for a podium position.

Men's High Jump

Jamarcus Brown cleared 6' 10¼" (2.09m) for fifth place in the field, despite maneuvering two make-or-break attempts earlier in the competition. Brown cleared 6' 10" or higher five times throughout the outdoor season, and with the top-five finish, he earned his third All-American first team distinction.

Lamont Victoria trailed behind for sixth place, although the senior cleared his first three heights on one attempt. His 6' 9" (2.06m) mark guaranteed an All-American finish, and the senior tied with the University of Chicago's Aryan Shrivastava to collect 2.5 points.

Each Hornet cleared 7' 1" during the regular season to obtain the top two seeds coming into the competition. With Victoria's sixth-place result, he is one of five competitors to earn a top-eight finish at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships.

Men's 100-Meter Dash

Following his high jump performance, Victoria slotted a 10.48 finish in the men's 100-meter dash and missed qualifying for Saturday's final by one thousandth of a second.

Four athletes from Victoria's heat advanced to the final, while TCNJ's Maxim Rychkov ousted Victoria at the line. His second-team All-American performance is the fourth All-American accolade of his Lynchburg career.

Men's Decathlon

While Micah Leech entered Saturday in ninth place for the men's decathlon, the junior used personal bests in the javelin and 1,500-meter run to accelerate into fifth place in the final standings. Leech finished the decathlon with four tied or improved PRs out of the 10 events.

Finishing in the top five for half the events, Leech posted 6,874 points to register the second-highest mark in program history behind Joe Bedard's 7,166 in 1997.

Leech opened the day with a 15.24 performance in the men's 110-meter hurdles, placing fourth in the event. He advanced to hold his placement in the men's discus, setting a 114' 2" (34.80m) mark for 10th.

In need of a stellar result to clinch All-American honors, Leech used the pole vault to finish third by clearing 14' 7¼" (4.45m). He entered at 13' 7¼" (4.15m), when 10 of his opponents already failed to clear a lower height.

Leech continued the momentum into the men's javelin, muscling a two-meter personal best to post 177' 11" (54.24m) for second place. The Yorktown native pushed into fifth place ahead of the final event, all but guaranteeing the top-eight finish.

In the final 1,500-meter run, Leech clocked 4:49.37 for 11th place and a personal best.
