Track & Field Competes At Rockingham Collegiate Classic

Harrisonburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg track & field team competed at the Rockingham Collegiate Classic this past Friday as the last meet before the indoor ODAC Championships and put together some great performances.

On the women's side, the Hornets found success in the jumps and throws. In the long jump, Margo Fox placed second with a mark of 5.17 meters, while Selah Parker followed closely in third at 5.12 meters. Parker made her season debut as she has performed all season for the Lynchburg women's basketball team.

In the shot put, Kaylee Maxfield recorded a ninth-place finish with a throw of 10.13 meters. Lynchburg dominated the weight throw, led by Kenzie Swicegood's winning mark of 15.59 meters.

Aaliyah Rochford added a 12th-place finish at 12.40 meters, and Maxfield returned to place 16th with a throw of 11.43 meters. On the track, Madelyn Boyce ran 2:27.50 in the 800 meters to finish eighth, with Charlotte Bunting (2:29.13) and Samaria Little (2:38.88) also competing. In the mile, Hannah Edwards placed fifth in 5:20.76 to earn a personal-best time by one second, and Alana Palmaioli clocked 5:50.92.

The men were especially impressive in the high jump, where Lynchburg took three of the top four spots. Lamont Victoria cleared 2.15 meters for the win, and Jamarcus Brown followed at 2.05 meters for second. Brown's jump was his first of the season as he has shined on the basketball court for most of the indoor campaign. In his first jump, he entered the top-20 in the nation.

Aidan Hipp added a fourth-place finish in the high jump at 1.90 meters. In the long jump, Antaveon Steele placed fifth with a leap of 6.21 meters, and Guillermo Martino finished sixth at 6.17 meters. On the track, Isaiah Davis took third in the 400 meters with a time of 52.54 seconds, and Trenton Tucker competed in the 60-meter dash preliminaries, running 7.20.

The Hornets now prepare for the ODAC Indoor Championships in Roanoke, Va. on Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, March 1.
