Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis team hosted Washington and Lee at the Crosswhite Athletic Club on Tuesday afternoon and lost, 7-0.
The Hornets (1-1, 0-1 ODAC) battled against the No. 19 Generals (6-0, 3-0 ODAC), but ultimately fell short. Washington and Lee claimed the early advantage by sweeping all three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles,
Kayla Kosiorek and
Isadora Lima were defeated 6-0.
Giovana Gaboardi and
Ashley Hair dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 2, while
Harper Dodd and
Maggie Wonderling fell 6-3 in the No. 3 position.
In singles play, Washington and Lee continued its momentum across the lineup.
Isadora Lima was defeated 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and
Kayla Kosiorek dropped a 6-0, 6-0 match at No. 2. At No. 3,
Giovana Gaboardi fell 6-0, 6-2.
Ashley Hair was defeated 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
At No. 5 singles,
Maggie Wonderling dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision, and
Harper Dodd fell by the same score at No. 6 to close out the match. Despite the result, the Hornets competed on their home courts at Crosswhite Athletic Club against a top-20 nationally-ranked Washington and Lee squad that entered the match with an unblemished record on the season.
The Hornets jump right back into action tomorrow, taking on Sweet Briar in Amherst, Va. on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 3:30 p.m.
