Lynchburg, Va. – The University of Lynchburg outdoor track & field teams will open their season at the Washington & Lee Carnival in Lexington, Va. on Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21 against local competition.
The condensed outdoor season features just five weekends for regular-season competition ahead of the 2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships. Several athletes plan to quickly solidify qualifying marks for postseason competition.
Facility
Washington & Lee's Wilson Field is surrounded by a six-lane oval track in the heart of campus. This meet marks the second consecutive year that the Hornets open their season at Washington & Lee
Schedule
On Friday, field events begin with the women's hammer throw at 11:00 a.m., while track events commence with the women's unseeded 5,000-meter run at 4:15 p.m. Saturday's action opens with the men's shot put at 10:00 a.m., along with the women's 4x100-meter relay for track events at 12:30 p.m.

Weather
High temperatures are projected to reach 70 degrees on Friday and Saturday, while lows range in the low 40s. Skies are expected to be cloudy on Friday with increased sunshine to conclude the meet on Saturday.
Competing Athletes
With the exception of athletes who competed at the NCAA Championships, several sprints and throws athletes will participate in the opening competition. Most distance athletes are expected to open their season next week at the Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational, hosted by Lynchburg.
