Bridgewater, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis squad took a trip to Bridgewater and earned an emphatic 7-0 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Mapp-Whitelow Courts.
The Hornets (6-3, 3-2 ODAC) opened the match against the Eagles (5-8, 0-4) by sweeping doubles play.
Isadora Lima and
Kayla Kosiorek secured a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
Giovana Gaboardi and
Ashley Hair followed with a 6-1 victory at No. 2, and
Harper Dodd and
Maggie Wonderling completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 decision at No. 3.
Carrying the momentum into singles competition, Lynchburg won all six matches.
Isadora Lima earned a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles, while
Kayla Kosiorek posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2.
Giovana Gaboardi followed with a 6-0, 6-0 result at No. 3, and
Ashley Hair recorded a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 4.
At No. 5 singles,
Harper Dodd secured a three-set win, defeating her opponent 7-5, 4-6, 10-8.
Maggie Wonderling completed the sweep at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 decision.
With wins in all three doubles matches and all six singles contests, Lynchburg completed the 7-0 sweep. The match featured five straight-set singles victories and a three-set win at No. 5, as Lynchburg controlled play throughout the afternoon in Bridgewater.
The Hornets have a quick turnaround as they are set to face Roanoke on the road tomorrow, Sunday, March 29 at 1 p.m.
