Winchester, Va. – The University of Lynchburg indoor track & field teams returned to action one final time ahead of the NCAA Indoor Championships, posting several top-three finishes at the NCAA South Region Final Qualifier at Shenandoah University and Tufts Final Qualifier in Boston.
In his third meet of the season, Jamarcus Brown elevated his season best in the men's high jump with a 6' 10¼" (2.09m) clearance to win the event. With the new mark, Brown is tied for the fifth-best performance in Division III, becoming one of only seven men in the nation to clear 6' 10" this season.
Margo Fox narrowly missed a personal best in the women's pentathlon, collecting 3,265 points and earning podium finishes in three of the five events. Fox's PR of 3,294 from 2025 is the Lynchburg program record.
In the women's triple jump, Kacey Kelly registered a 37' 7¾" (11.47m) mark to win the competition, while Demetri Hinton stamped a 46' 10" (14.27m) performance in the men's triple jump to finish first overall.
To cap the performances from Shenandoah, Kenzie Swicegood finished second in the women's weight throw (52' 5¾" or 16.00m), and Rylee Turner crossed the line in third place in the women's 60-meter dash (8.01).
In Boston, the Lynchburg men's distance medley relay team improved its season best to 9:57.92 at the Tufts Final Qualifier, finishing 12th in the field. With the team's conversion, as the event took place on a flat track, the Hornets boast a 9:49.91 NCAA time that ranks 21st in the nation. The top 12 teams advance to the NCAA Championships.
Hannah Edwards finished ninth in the women's 800-meter run, clocking 2:19.17.
Selections for the NCAA Championships will be revealed on Sunday, March 8 at 7:00 p.m. on NCAA.com.
