6 Hornets Book Tickets to Birmingham for NCAA Championships

Indianapolis – Six athletes will represent the University of Lynchburg indoor track & field teams at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala. as the Hornets solidified seven nationally qualified marks throughout the season.

Athletes across the country completed their final weekend of competition ahead of the NCAA's final qualification release on Sunday evening. Five of Lynchburg's six competitors stamped their national marks earlier in the season, while Jamarcus Brown improved his high jump mark at Saturday's NCAA South Region Final Qualifier to punch his ticket.

The top 20 competitors were selected to compete at the NCAA Championships in each individual event, while the top 12 relay teams qualified for the distance medley relay and 4x400 meter relay.

Men's National Qualifiers

Lamont Victoria is the lone Hornet competing in multiple events at the NCAA Championships; the senior transfer will participate in the men's 60-meter dash and the men's high jump.

Victoria secured three individual titles at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships, taking home the gold in the 60-meter dash, high jump and 200-meter dash. Throughout the season, he collected seven first-place event finishes, never registering an individual result outside of the top 10.

In the men's high jump, Victoria boasts the second-best mark in Division III with a

7' ½" (2.15m) performance at the Rockingham Collegiate Classic. The senior's 60-meter seed of 6.78 is tied for 17th in the field, just four hundredths of a second shy of tying Tristan Wright's program record that was set at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships.

Jamarcus Brown will join Victoria in the men's high jump following a 6' 10¼ " (2.09m) performance in his final meet of the season. Upon the conclusion of the men's basketball season, Brown stamped a second-place finish behind Victoria at the ODAC Championships and owns the fifth-best mark in DIII.

On the distance side, Chasen Hunt will compete in the men's 3,000-meter run, making his third consecutive NCAA Indoor Championships appearance. After racing for the University of North Carolina during the cross country season, the senior returns to the DIII level with a chance to clinch his third NCAA title as the three seed.

Hunt anchored the men's DMR in 2024, which won the national title in Virginia Beach, Va.

Alex Jordan prepares to make his first NCAA Track & Field Championships appearance in the men's 5,000-meter run, owning a 14:11.47 conference record from the Boston Valentine Invitational earlier in the season. The sophomore is seeded 10th in DIII.

During the cross country season, Jordan garnered ODAC Runner of the Year accolades and won the NCAA South Region Championships with a 24:15.2 performance in the men's 8k.

Micah Leech clinched a qualifying spot in the men's heptathlon, ranking fourth in DIII with a 5,086-point mark from the Doc Hale Invite in February. Leech will make his NCAA Championships debut just weeks removed from scoring in four events at the ODAC Championships.

Women's National Qualifiers

Kacey Kelly will represent the Lynchburg women's team in the triple jump, owning a 38' 7½" (11.77m) mark from the season-opening Liberty Kickoff. Kelly is tied for 16th in the field, though she placed third in last year's competition with a 40' 6" (12.34m) leap.

The senior has competed in four NCAA Championship events throughout her Hornets career, posting top-10 finishes three times.
