Salem, Va. – The University of Lynchburg men's and women's indoor track & field teams posted two championship records and 11 individual victories as the men's team captured its fifth consecutive title at the 2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Indoor Championships.
Lynchburg posted 187.5 points to claim the conference crown, and the Hornets bested second-place Washington & Lee by 67 points. On the women's side, the Generals earned the team trophy with 195.5 points, while Lynchburg finished second with 113.
Lamont Victoria opened day one of the competition with an ODAC Championships record in the men's high jump, clearing the 6' 10¾" (2.10m) bar for first place. The Hornets, who occupy second place in the Division III event squad rankings for the men's high jump, swarmed the leaderboard with four athletes in the top six.
Jamarcus Brown cleared 6' 8" (2.03m) for second place, despite competing for his second time this season. Elijah Rose cleared 6' 4¾" (1.95m) for fifth, while Aidan Hipp cleared 6' 2¾" (1.90m) for sixth. Â
Victoria also claimed a pair of individual titles in the men's 60m and 200m dash, totaling a perfect 30 points for the Hornets between his three events. The senior transfer posted 6.77 in the 60m dash to cruise to the title, just one hundredth of a second from tying Tristan Wright's championship record. In the 200m dash, Victoria registered 22.08 for the victory.
For the distance team, Alex Jordan collected his first ODAC title in the men's 5k with a 14:30.30 performance to clinch the championship record by seven seconds. Despite trailing behind opponents early in the race, the sophomore paced consistently throughout the final mile to earn the 12-second victory.
Cameron Sidebotham (15:05.47), Johnathan Cobb (15:13.88) and Aidan Riggle (15:14.33) finished fifth through seventh, respectively.
The distance team capped day one with a rapid comeback from Chasen Hunt in the final mile of the distance medley relay (DMR), as the Hornets won the event with a 10:31.32 mark. While Jamison Mantooth, Blake Henson and Luke Diemoz moved Lynchburg into fourth place, Hunt posted a 4:22.73 mile to move away from the field.
Hunt opened day two with a 4:19.80 victory in the men's mile, punctuating a team effort that saw five Hornets finish ahead of the competition. Danny Rockey secured a 4:21.22 performance in his first ODAC Championships race for second, Matthew Kane clocked 4:22.36 for third and Randy White earned 4:22.55 for fourth. In the final meters, Aidan Riggle passed an opponent to cross the line in 4:24.53 for fifth.
In the men's 3,000m, Hunt earned his third ODAC title of the meet with an 8:33.94 result. Alex Jordan followed closely behind with an 8:35.14 performance for second, while Cameron Sidebotham clocked 8:44.32 for fifth.
Demetri Hinton earned his second ODAC title with a 47' 3½" (14.41m) mark for first place. Teammate Micah Leech captured third place, registering a 46' 4¾" (14.14m) jump. Â
In other impactful events, the Hornets combined to produce 15 points in the men's long jump and 14 points in the men's 800m. Lynchburg concluded the meet with a seventh-place performance in the men's 4x400m relay, crossing the line in 3:31.22.
The women's team earned three event victories throughout the weekend, beginning with the women's DMR on Saturday night.Â
Mya Baker, Kaitlyn Ruiz, Charlotte Bunting and Hannah Edwards fended off opponents to earn the 12:45.48 victory, including an impressive 5:22.89 final mile by Edwards. Lynchburg's final leg was the fastest of the field.Â
On Sunday, Edwards claimed the women's 800m title as she secured a 2:21.02 result to win by less than a second. Teammate Madelyn Boyce crossed the line in 2:25.83 for seventh.
Kacey Kelly earned her fifth ODAC triple jump title with a mark of 11.76m (38' 7"). In the women's high jump, Margo Fox cleared the 5' 3¾" (1.62m) for a personal best and second place, while Kya Rucker finished second in the women's weight throw with a 51' 3½" (15.63m) toss.
Fox (17' 7½" or 5.37m) and Kelly (16' 5¾" or 5.02m) also competed in the women's long jump, finishing third and sixth, respectively. Selah Parker placed fourth for the Hornets (16' 11¼" or 5.16m), elevating the total to 14 points from the event.Â
Rylee Turner claimed a pair of top-five performances, finding the podium in the women's 200m dash after clocking 25.84 in the penultimate heat of competition. Turner ousted the fourth-place finisher by one hundredth of a second.
The senior also registered 7.92 in the women's 60m dash final for fourth place.
Delaney Saulsbury led the charge for the distance team, clocking 18:14.59 in the women's 5k for third and 10:36.53 in the women's 3,000m for fourth. In the women's mile, Winter Tietjen raced to a personal-best 5:15.41 finish for fourth place, while Hannah Edwards finished fifth with a 5:21.17 showing.
Kaitlyn Ruiz rocketed to a 58.64 mark in the women's 400m for third, while the Hornets' 4x400m relay team finished third with a 4:04.76 mark to wrap up the evening.
Select athletes will return to action on Saturday, March 7 as they prepare to solidify national qualifying marks at the Tufts National Qualifier in Boston and South Region Final Qualifier in Winchester, Va.
