Lynchburg, Va. – The University of Lynchburg indoor track & field teams will travel to Salem, Va. on Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, March 1 to open the postseason at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Roanoke College at Kerr-Cregger Field House.
On the men's side, the Hornets aim to hoist the ODAC trophy for the fifth consecutive year. Lynchburg has captured each of the past four conference titles by a margin of over 40 points, and the Hornets lead the conference with 32 all-time indoor titles.
Following a second-place finish in 2025, the women's team enters this season's championships projected to finish in second place, led throughout the season by efforts from Rylee Turner and Kenzie Swicegood.
The Hornets have rewritten the record book in 2026, posting school records in the 200m, 300m and 4x400m relay. Before the 2025 campaign, Lynchburg had captured five consecutive ODAC titles.
Facility
Kerr-Cregger Field House, which perennially hosts the conference championships, features a 200-meter oval flat track with six lanes. The Hornets sent athletes to compete at Roanoke College three times during the regular season.
2026 marks the ninth consecutive ODAC Indoor Championships event hosted in Kerr-Cregger Field House.
Meet Projections
The Lynchburg men's team enters Saturday with a firm advantage on paper, projected to tally 195.5 points based on season marks. Roanoke is projected to finish second with 105, while Washington & Lee occupies third place with 94.
In the women's standings, Washington & Lee is projected to finish first with 175 points. Lynchburg is estimated to fall into second place with 127.5, while Bridgewater is slated third with 105.5.
First Impressions
This year's ODAC Championships marks the first postseason event for Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Mario Wilson. While Assistant Coach. Sam Llaneza gained experience by coaching the cross country team to a second-place finish at the ODAC Championships in November.
Wilson entered the season with 26 years of coaching experience, as well as leading Jordan Scott to the 2019 NCAA men's indoor triple jump title at the University of Virginia.
Reviving the Reinforcements
Upon the conclusion of the men's basketball season, two-time All-American high jumper Jamarcus Brown will compete in his first ODAC Indoor Championships in just his second meet of the season. Brown posted a 6' 8¾" (2.05m) performance at the Rockingham Collegiate Open last weekend, now tied for the ninth-best performance in Division III this season.
Elijah Rose will also return to competition after rehabbing from an injury earlier in the season. Lynchburg boasts a roster of seven high jumpers for the men's team at the ODAC Championships, two of whom are ranked inside the nation's top 20 (Victoria and Brown).
