LYNCHBURG, Va. --  The University of Lynchburg women's lacrosse team secured a dramatic 14-13 victory over Shenandoah Sunday afternoon, finishing the contest with a late goal in the final seconds to seal the ODAC win.

McKenna Steinau led the Hornets with six goals, including the game-winner with 24 seconds remaining, while Neely Morris added five goals in a dominant offensive showing. Lily Messineo contributed two goals, and Margaret Scoggin added one. In goal, Olivia Owings made nine saves to earn the win.

Lynchburg opened the game in strong fashion, jumping out to a 3-0 lead behind early goals from Messineo and Steinau. Shenandoah responded with a six-goal run to close the first quarter and carried that momentum into the second, building an 8-3 advantage. The Hornets began to chip away late in the half, as Steinau scored three times in a stretch and Morris added a goal in the final minute to cut the deficit to one at the break.

The two sides traded blows throughout the second half, with Lynchburg tying the game multiple times in the third quarter. Goals from Messineo and Scoggin helped even the score, and Morris continued to deliver in key moments as the Hornets stayed within striking distance heading into the fourth.

In the final period, Lynchburg took its first lead since the opening quarter following back-to-back goals from Morris. Shenandoah answered once again, reclaiming a 13-12 edge with just over seven minutes to play. Morris responded with her fifth goal of the day to tie the game at 13-13 with under three minutes remaining, setting up a decisive final possession.

With time winding down, Steinau delivered the final blow, scoring with 24 seconds left to complete the comeback and lift Lynchburg to a one-goal victory in a tightly contested conference matchup.
