Lynchburg, Va. – The University of Lynchburg outdoor track & field teams will host the Hill City Twilight for their final home competition of the season on Saturday, May 2 as the Hornets face several high-caliber Division I opponents on Jack M. Toms Track.
The home finale marks Lynchburg's first meet since the Old Dominion Athletic Championships last weekend, where the men's team scored 249 points en route to its sixth consecutive championship. Throughout the season, the Hornets have combined to post nine national qualifying marks with three weeks until the NCAA Championships.
At the 2025 meet, Sam Llaneza and Tor Hotung-Davidsen clocked sub-four-minute mile performances for the first time in Division III history. This year's 1,500-meter run could also produce a significant facility record, as Virginia's Gary Martin enters with a 3:31.87 seed time.
As several of Lynchburg's national-level athletes look to improve final marks, they'll face DI competitors from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Liberty, William & Mary and other local opponents. Despite the high competition, Lynchburg athletes own 37 seeded times inside the top 10 for their respective events.Â
Meet Schedule
The meet will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the women's discus, while track events commence at 4:10 p.m. with the men's 100-meter dash. After an hour of sprint events, the distance events will kick off at 5:16 p.m. with the women's open 1,500-meter run.
Weather
Forecasts indicate considerably cool temperatures for the region on Saturday, as highs will reach 63 degrees. With cloudy skies, temperatures will cool to 53 degrees by the end of the evening.
Facility
Dr. Jack M. Toms Track features eight lanes surrounding Shellenberger Field, while horizontal and vertical jumping events will take place inside the D-zones of the track. Throwing events will take place at Moon Field, situated at the campus's entrance.
